Creativity: The Least Creative Value Prop

Creativity is Intelligence having fun
— Albert Einstein

“So tell me about your company, and what makes you different.” I am assuming we all have had some variation of this question proposed to us. I would also assume that somewhere in our explanation we dropped the big Ole’ “C” word. “We are creative”, “We bring creativity”…. Yes, I too am guilty as charged. Which leads to the next question… If we ALL are saying we are creative… Are we?

Creativity – the use of imagination or original thought and/or ideas.

Welp… if it comes to how we are describing our value propositions I suppose there is nothing creative about it. However, that does not make us “un-creative”. It simply means we don’t know what creativity means and how to explain it.

Why don’t we use terms like “inspiring”, “emotion-causing”, “impactful”, “mind-blowing” when describing your company or experiences. Those are certainly more specific to the type of “Creative” we are.

Exercise time. Replace the word creative with something less vague that better explains the values of your company/work. It will certainly make you more creati…uhhh…Imaginative, specific, and memorable.
